Position: Computer Technician
Responsible for: Technicians are responsible for desktop/workstation troubleshooting and repairs and basic networking support.
Services: TMG since 1997 has provided consulting services for a diverse group of small to large businesses, providing one-stop IT support in systems/networking, telecom, development, and eBusiness technologies.

PRIMARY EXPECTATIONS AND JOB DUTIES

Expectations

  • Technicians will perform duties in a responsible and timely fashion according to industry standards.
  • Will work independently and take the lead when necessary.
  • Will act professional at all times and represent TMG favorably in all dealings.

Duties

  • Provide basic troubleshooting skills and techniques for in-shop and field repairs.
  • Repair and maintain electronic and computing equipment internally and for clients.
  • Assist internal users and clients with equipment and answer questions.
  • Deliver, setup, and document equipment.
  • Construction, testing and repair of in-house equipment and systems.
  • Learn Clientele.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Perform internal and external routine maintenance such as backups, virus scanning and software/hardware upgrades.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Experience and education

  • Experience in hands-on repairs.
  • Experience in software and hardware upgrades.
  • Experience in technical trouble shooting and resolution.
  • General printer repair and maintenance (HP Deskjet/Laserjet)
  • Windows 9x, NT4 Workstation, 2000 Pro, XP Home/Pro, 2003, Vista
  • Linksys, SMC, home/small business internet gateways
  • Peer to Peer and Basic Server networking
  • Required Certifications (must be current): MCP (NOTE: exceptions may be made for individuals possessing relevant work experience and training, with the tests to be passed within 30 days of employment)
  • Recommended Certifications: MCP+, Compaq, HP

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • User knowledge of PC-compatibles and printers.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office and internet connectivity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and users.
  • Carry out instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
